*SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 42 IN MY BEST FRIEND'S GIRL**
Aerith bit her lip. She wanted to say something, but she didn't know how to explain it. She fidgetted with her fingers, staying quiet for a long moment. She closed her eyes.
"I can't..." Cloud looked back down at her. She opened her eyes, taking a deep breath.
"I can't remember our last kiss," she said weakly. She stared at him with sparkling eyes.
"I...I've been so wrapped up in everything that's been happening. All I've been thinking about is if the things I do are right or not, that I just can't remember. And...it hurts." A tear rolled down her cheek. "Because it was the last time we were really together and happy. I want to be able to remember that, Cloud. But I can't." She shook her head. "I can't remember."
Cloud watched her for a moment, then smiled gently.
